How It Works

The SMIG water purifier uses a seven-stage filtration process, with different filter elements working together as water passes through the system.

At the heart of the purification process is a hollow-fibre ultrafiltration membrane. This contains extremely fine pores that help filter out suspended particles and certain microorganisms as water flows through it.

Ultrafiltration works differently from reverse osmosis. Rather than removing dissolved minerals and salts through a reverse osmosis membrane, it primarily filters particles and microorganisms while allowing naturally occurring dissolved minerals to remain in the water.

The result is a convenient household filtration system designed to provide filtered drinking water without electricity or wastewater discharge.
